Four format changes The X Factor should make

Filming for the twelfth series of The X Factor is already well under way, the auditions wrapped yesterday and shooting for the Bootcamp round, is set to take place very soon.

There have already been some big changes made to the show, with two new judges, Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw and singer Rita Ora, who take their seats alongside show veterans, show creator Simon Cowell, and singer Cheryl Fernandez-Versini. And there also new hosts for the main show, with Olly Murs and Caroline Flack being hired and new hosts for the ITV 2 spin off show The XTRA Factor, with Rochelle Humes and Melvin Odoom, fronting the show.

There has also been some impressive changes to the format this series, with producers scrapping the room auditions in favour of just the arena ones, and this year for the first time ever, Judges Houses will be filmed LIVE.

Simon has promised fans that this will be an X Factor series like no other.

But I believe there are still some format changes that could be made, to make this the most exciting series of the show yet.

I have chosen four changes, that the producers should consider making:

CATEGORIES:

Rather than the judges mentoring, the groups, the overs, the boys, the girls. The categories should be mixed, allowing the judges to have, one boy, one girl, one group, and one over in their category.

THEME WEEKS:

After years of big band week, number 1’s week, it has not got boring and dated. So it is time to axe the theme’s and let the judges choose any song, from any genre that fits their singer.

SING OFF:

Rather than the judges choosing out of the bottom two, the contestants should sing again, and the phone lines should be opened for ten minuets, to allow the public to vote through their favourite.

WILDCARDS:

Axe the wildcards, the judges should only pick three contestants each, to take through to the live shows.

The X Factor is due to return to our screens late next month
